Judy Haberl’s work merges the disciplines of sculpture, photography, printmaking and installation, with a deep interest in the evocative potential of material elements and locations. Feminine possessions, food culture, photoluminescence, and dark botany are persistent subjects in her work.
AMAZEMENT - what I wish for the viewer of my work: multi-sensorial events – sometimes visual, sometimes tactile. DISLOCATION – to perceive that you are hovering above the earth, in Flight. PHOTOGRAPHIC THEATRE – somewhere over the heartland with the MUFFLED SOFTNESS of a hundred blankets and pillows at your feet – imprinted with images from an airplane window. PHOTOLUMINESCENCE – to lose your bearing and arrive at a mythical glowing garden. MYSTERY of the commonplace. DARK ALLURE – The photographs and monotypes of shadowy flora and constructed visions. EXPERIENCE –The sounds of a choir emanating from 400 bronzed baby shoes that form Baby Opera.
