What began in my home kitchen as a revelation of the memory (Traces) of dinner preparations on my own plastic cutting boards, created a deeper curiosity - about the marks that chefs would make in their professional kitchens and extending the idea into the national culture of food.
Through dual processes of intaglio printmaking and photographing the cutting boards on light tables, the range of the unique "hand" of each chef became visible (The Chef's Hand). The photo - reversals become ghosts of their preparations.
